Does any one have a list of the codes for the "Server setup answer file" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

     Does any one have a list of the codes or knows where to find them for the "Server setup answer file"?

    ie

    [WinPE]
    InstallSKU=SERVERHOMEPREMIUM
    ConfigDisk=1
    CheckReqs=0
    SystemPartitionSize=65

    [InitialConfiguration]
    Language=EnterLanguageCode
    Locale=EnterLocaleCode
    Country=EnterCountryCode
    KeyboardLayout=EnterKeyboardCode
    AcceptEula=true
    AcceptOEMEula=true
    ServerName=EnterServerName
    PlainTextPassword=EnterPassword
    PasswordHint=EnterHint
    Settings=All or Updates or None

    Thanks...

  • BOTR,

    I was able to track down the list of possible answer file entries on the help website located here.  The keyboard layout and locale and language values may all be found on TechNet's Available Language Packs article located here.  Use the "Language hexadecimal identifier" column for the keyboard layout and locale values.  That should cover the values.  Let us know if you have any further questions.

    Thank you for using the beta!

  • Those items are optional and not required for setup. However, Microsoft has not published a list yet of the appropriate codes to use for the Vail unattend file.

  • Not a list of codes but wegotserved has a post for USB installation that covers some of the required fields: http://www.wegotserved.com/2010/04/27/installing-vail-unattended-from-a-usb-flash-drive/

  • I think he meant more like "What do I put for KeyboardLayout?" Mark. :) The configuration parameter names are documented, but most of the values you can use aren't. I just happen to know Language through KeyboardLayout off the top of my head, or I would have left those (optional) parameters out entirely.

  • Thanks to everyone for the answers. I had worked out my country and locale from searching but not the keyboard code. Thanks again.

  • A list of these codes would still be nice. And for Mark Vayman, no they are not listed in the release documentation...... so why mark this as answered?????  Mark????

    I successfully used a CFG.INI file to install HWS 2011 on my headless HP LX195. When I quickly ran out of client backup space I tried to install WHS on a new 1.5TB which I had prepared by deleting all partitions.  This install would not work.

    Are there any special parameters that need to be in the CFG.INI file to cope with a 1.5TB drive?

    Here is the contents of the CFG.INI file I used: ( with credit due servethehome.com)

    [WinPE]
