Office Student - validated and activated yet can't download Excel templates

Question
-
I have wasted valuable time trying to download an Excel template from MS Office Online.
I have a valid copy of MS Office Home and Student from Best Buy. To my knowledge, the suite has been validated and activated. I still cannot download a template.
Once in Excel, I click "New". I then select the template I want to download from MS Office Online. I am then prompted about MS Office Genuine Advantage. I then click "Continue" and then click "Get Genuine" at the next window prompt. It takes me to the Internet and then returns "Validation Successful". Nothing happens from there. I go back to Excel to get my template and the process repeats. I have also activated the software and now receive a prompt that stating "This software has already been activated".
When I go to the "About" screen, the product identification is different from that on the software packaging. This computer (Vista Home Premium) did/does have a trail copy of MS Office on it prior to my installation of MS Office and Student.
Please help as I have wasted substantial time trying to solve this. I have more important things to do than fight with software to get it to do what it is supposed to do.

Rain_Main,
Which version is the trial version? Please remove the trial version of Office and revalidate here at :http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/
and click on Validate office.
For help on removing office 2007 version (trial) please go here for instructions (if add/remove doesn't uninstall successfully):

Rain_Main,
The trial version of Office will show up in the add/remove program, but if it is not there, then there is a tool that extracts remnants
of the trial version of office for Microsoft. One way to see if a program is a trial version is if you go to Help and About on the Office Suite in question.
Thank you for visiting the Office Genuine Advantage forum,

Uninstalling the trail copy solved the problem. Thanks for the assistance.
Another question: How come Vista/Office can't decipher the difference between a purchased copy and a trail copy? As stated, I had both on my machine. Seems to me this was a lot of mickey mousing around for nothing. I think MS should be smart enough to know the difference.
