Configuration of WMP to stream music library from WHS to Logitech Squeezebox RRS feed

  • Question

  • Should  WMP on my server be configured to add and monitor my music library that is on the server?  The library in WMP is currently empty.  I've been streaming my music files to a Logitech SqueezeBox via Squeezecenter, but some songs are missing data, and some songs show data but don't play.  I've got a mixture of wav, wma, and mp3 formats.  The files are not protected;  wav files are digitized LP's; wma's are ripped CD's; mp3's are downloaded music.
    Thanks for your consideration.

  • No, Windows Media Player shouldn't be changed or used on your server. Windows Home Server has a different streaming technology built in, called Windows Media Connect. To learn more about how streaming works in Windows Home Server, you should take a look at the Media Sharing technical brief.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
