CRM 2011 - Missing Services RRS feed

  • Question

  • So I've been troubleshooting this problem for several days.  I decided to go back through the deployment documentation.  I see this sections for specifying service accounts.

"On the Specify Service Accounts page, select the security accounts for the Microsoft Dynamics CRM services, and then click Next.

The services are described below. For more information, see Minimum permissions required for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Setup, service and components in the Planning Guide.

4   Application Service. This service runs the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Web application that is used to connect users to CRM data.

4   Deployment Web Service. Manages the deployment by using the methods described in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Deployment Software Development Kit, such as create an organization or remove a  Deployment Administrator role from a user.

4   Sandbox Processing Service. Enables an isolated environment to allow for the execution of custom code, such as plug-ins. This isolated environment reduces the possibility of custom code affecting the operation of the organizations in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM deployment.

4   Asynchronous Processing Service. Processes queued asynchronous events, such as bulk e-mail or data import."

When I go look at the services running on my new server, i only see the CRM email router, CRM Async, CRM Async (maintenance), CRM Sandbox, and CRM Unzip.

CRM site is working though.  Where are these "application Service" and "deployment Web Service" services?

  • Hi Statistic,

These services are not necessarily Windows services running on the background.

The Application Service, is the front-end server, it's pretty much like the Application Server role on CRM 4, and basically installs IIS CRM website and all the web files needed to render CRM on the users browser.

The Deployment Web Service, is the service that deploys the Deployment manager tools, hence you can decide which server will host these type of tools.

    Hope it helps
