Unable to send a message to aol user RRS feed

  • Question

  •

We recently added a new edge server to our OCS enviorment, and added aol, msn and yahoo ad federated domains.

when a user tries to send a IM he receives this error.

This message was not delivered to user@aim.com because the address is outside of your organization and is not federated with your company, or the address is incorrect. Please contact your system administrator with this information. (ID: 1008)

Do i need to add aim.com or aol.com to allowed federation domains?

    currently under (public IM)

    service provider     Access edge server

    aol                       sipSurprisescar.aol.com

now another question what is the correct address?

    user@aol.com or user@aim.com

    When using user@aol.com

    i get this error message

Office Communicator 2007 Error ID: 504
    Details
    Product: Office Communicator 2007
    Version: 2.0
    Source: Office Communications Server
    ID: 504
    Message: Server Time-out

    Explanation

The server did not receive a timely response from an external server it accessed in attempting to process the request.

    Cause

You attempted to transfer a call to a user that Communicator could not locate. Possible causes include:

    • The user is not part of your company's Office Communications Server and cannot be located.
    • The user is not signed in to Communicator.

    Resolution

Try to contact the user later. Ensure that the user that you are attempting to transfer a call to is part of your company's Office Communications Server or a federated contact.

    Any Ideas or suggestions?
