Windows programs not working after upgrading to a bigger hard drive. Ex: windows update, microsoft security essentials, zune, microsoft word, etc..

  I have a sony vaio cs320j laptop. it came with a 320gb hard drive but i upgraded to a 750gb hard drive for more space because i was running out. I tried cloning my hard drive, I tried creating recovery disks of my old hard drive then i also tried installing windows from scratch on the hard drive. not matter what i do, the windows software never worked after i installed all the driver updates. can anyone please help, i called Sony for a few months, Western Digital, and even Microsoft. no one knows what the problem is
