Backup Deleted RRS feed

  • Question

  • One of my laptops had the shared photo folder on the WHS inside the photo libraries in Windows 7.  For some reason the photo directory was deleted.  This wiped all the photos on my server and I had folder duplication turned off.  So now I have lost 26000 pictures.

At once i set off to do some data recovery and was able to recover all 26000 pictures.  But alas, I cannot open the pictures with any picture viewer.  I checked the headers of the .jpg files with a hex editor and the entire file is "00" everywhere.  Does anyone know how to repair damaged headers in a .jpg?  Is there a way to access the shadow copy even though folder duplication is off?

When I check the properties of the picture file it says it is 3 -5MB.  Surely there must be a way to get the data.
