Hyper-threaded Cores and HPC Scheduling RRS feed

  • Question

  • When creating an HPC SOA session and specifying the resource units as cores, HPC counts hyper-threaded cores the same as "real" cores. Is there a mechanism to tell HPC to ignore the hyper-threaded cores and ony use the actual cores for allocating resources?

    1. If you can, turn off hyper threading in bios. And HPC can handle it correctly.

    2. Schedule your HPC SOA session on socket level (jobunittype = socket), and mark the max concurrency call number to 1.
