CD / DVD drive not reading any data in windows 7 - HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N AT RRS feed

  • Question

  • I updated my R61i 8932 Thinkpad to windows 7 ultimate sp1 and now my CDRW/DVDRW drive is not working. It was working with Windows XP. What ever CD/DVD I put the drive it just spins for a long time and then it is not able to read. While debugging I found that the drive was able to read all the CDs and DVD's when I boot it in "Safe Mode with Networking" option.

    Current installed driver version : 6.1.7601.1751. CD/DVD make HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N AT.

    Tried https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/314060/your-cd-or-dvd-drive-is-not-recognized-by-windows-or-other-programs with no help

    Pls suggest a solution.
