Windows 7 Pro SP1 new installation not doing windows update RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am rebuilding a workstation with brand new hard drives and a brand new Windows 7 Pro x64 OEM install purchased recently.

    The new Win7 software was purchased from a major local IT provider in Australia (APAC region) -

    Windows 7 Pro x64 with SP1, new OEM out of the box

    Build May 2015 (details on the package)

    The install was straight forward - but I have been waiting for 2 days for the updates to start. It is driving me nuts!! 2 other collocated pre-existing Win7 x64 machines update OK without issues. The new machine is accessing a different domain as follows -

    WUPDATE PROCESS = svchost.exe -k netsvcs   <= as per normal

    Using WHOIS DNS lookup for the windows update IP addresses from today's attempt are

    United States Cheyenne Microsoft Informatica Ltda    <= not Redmond
    AS8075 MICROSOFT-CORP-MSN-AS-BLOCK - Microsoft Corporation (registered Mar 31, 1997)
    whois.lacnic.net    <= not whois.arin.net

    I have waited for hours on 2 separate days with no change in windows update. Today I have reformatted the install drive and reinstalled the brand new installation. Again updates are not being received. Win 7 is activated in all instances.

    Where do I go from here?
