Connection issues with remote access in VMware RRS feed

  • Question

  • The system is as follows:
    Windows 7 64 bit
    VMware Workstation 7.0
After some work through issues, I managed to install Windows Home Server in VMware Workstation 7.0 and started trying to configure remote access. I created my Windows Live domain and attempted enabling remote access by turning it on. There were errors posted that upnp was not configured in my router. I am able to access the server via browser, from INSIDE the lan but not OUTSIDE the lan. I forwarded ports 80, 443, and 3389 from my modem to my Linksys router and then forwarded the same three ports from the router. The issue appears in my network. The modem ip is in the 192.168.1.xxx range. The router ip is in the 10.10.10.xxx range. VMware automatically configured its connections in the 192.168.83.xxx range. So basically, where do I go from here? Any/all help is GREATLY appreciated.

  • As mentioned in your other thread, WHS and the host should show up in the same subnet - check your VMWare help files how to accomplish this.
