Hello Randy,First off, I see from your Diagnostic Report that around March 8th your Vista suffered from a Mod-Auth Tamper event due to a Incompatible Program. Since that occured over a month ago (and hasn't occured again since) I assume that issue is not the same as the current problem, you are experiencing. In another portion of the Diagnostic Report, I see the error code "Online Validation Code: 0x80070426". This means that the Software Licensing Service has stopped. Vista uses this service to check itself and confirm it is Genuine. When the servise is stopped, Vista is unable to confirm it's own Genuine status and assumes something (or someone) has tampered the Software Licensing Service and, therefore, flages itself as Non-Genuine.The below are the Manual steps to Force Start the Service. Once you type the net start slsvc command and hit Enter, if you receive any error, then, for some reason, Vista is not processing the command correctly and the issue is larger then just a Software Licensing problem. ISo, in that case, I would suggest contacting Vista core support at http://support.microsoft.com
If you have acces to the Start button:1) Click the Start button2) Type: cmd in the Start Search field3) At the top the Start window, you will see cmd.exe4) Right Click cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator5) Type: net start slsvcIf you do not have access to the Start button:1) Click the option that opens an Internet Browser2) A Browser will open, type: %windir%\system32 into the address field3) Find the file cmd.exe4) Right Click on the cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator5) Type: net start slsvcThank you,Darin SmithWGA Forum ManagerFriday, April 18, 2008 9:11 PM

Your license for Windows Vista is genuine. If you need assistance with a Windows Update issue, please post your inquiry to the Windows Update experts who frequent the Windows Update newsgroup:
