WHS restore back up -using different disk

Question
-
I use WHS to back up my laplop which has a 250bg HD(image backup). I like to increase my laptop HD to 320GB. so I get a new 320GB HD. Here is the procedure I use: remove my existing 250GB from my laptop, reinsert a brand new 320GB.
When I use WHS restore disk, it doesn't see my new 320GB HD. Is there something I miss?Sunday, April 12, 2009 6:18 PM

Did you copy the drivers for your laptop from your server backup to a flash drive, then use them during the restore process?
Yes, I did. All drivers were copied successfully.
WHS only detected my flash drive and my DVD drive but didn't detect my 320HD
Thank you
It sounds like the driver for your 250 GB drive is different than the driver for your 320 GB drive. Did you try booting from the restore CD with the 250 GB drive in your laptop (to see if the drive shows up then)? You could try connecting your 320 GB drive to a client (using an enclosure), then running C:\Program Files\Windows Home Server\ClientRestoreWizard.exe from your client and restore to the drive that way. Or, if your 320 GB drive came with a driver CD, you might need to locate the correct driver on the CD and add it to your flash drive.- Edited by kariya21Moderator Monday, April 13, 2009 12:42 AM

Thank you for the good info. I boot from the restore CD with the 250GB drive. WHS detects it fine.
I just need to find a driver for the 320BG HD.
