  • Just ran into an interesting phenomenon.  I was able to validate my office and windows install using the Run as administrator for IE, but when I open IE using just a normal click I get Office Ultimate 2007: Product Not Activated error even though my user account is an administrative account.  See my other post.  BTW I ran the diagnostic tool as both the administrative and my user account and the results of the diagnostic was the same.

  • STemporary,

What error codes are you receiving or messaging? Next you mention in your original post "What is wrong with my computer" without providing us what you are actually experiencing. Also I noticed you are using FireFox as the default browser. Please use the latest Internet Explorer during the Activation and Validation process. Are you still experiencing any problems using your Office Ultimate?

    Thank you,

  • As per the topic starter, the error that I am receiving is:

Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007: Product Not Activated.

I am using Internet Explorer 7.0.6001.18000 when attempting to validate my copy of Office.

I am not experiencing problems using the Office Ultimate product, according to the product when I go to activate it, it says that it is activated.  The problems that I am having is that when I go to have my product validated with the genuine advantage validation, I am getting the aforementioned error.  I know that it is an error, because as I said above:

"Just ran into an interesting phenomenon.  I was able to validate my office and windows install using the Run as administrator for IE, but when I open IE using just a normal click I get Office Ultimate 2007: Product Not Activated error even though my user account is an administrative account.  See my other post.  BTW I ran the diagnostic tool as both the administrative and my user account and the results of the diagnostic was the same."

  • Stemporay,

Your issue is related to Windows Product Activation.  In an attempt to assist I would like to provide some information which may or may not help.

    From the Desktop:

    1.

Click Start,  All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then Activate Windows.

Or, click the Windows Activation icon in the taskbar notification area next to the clock.

    2.

Click Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows now.

    3.

Click Read the Windows Product Activation Privacy Statement, click Back, and then click Next.

    4.

Follow the steps in the “Activate Windows by phone” dialog box, and then click Next.

Note The number appears now and differs based on the location that you select.

    5.

When activation is completed and you receive the following message:

You have successfully activated your copy of Windows

    Then click OK.

  • I am really confused, because when I ran IE using the option Run as administrator, and validated both my Windows and Office I get the following message:

    Validation Successful!

I am also able to validate my Windows using my normal user.

So, how can my issue be related to Windows Product Activation on my computer such that I need to go and reactivate a product that has allready been activated and I have been using for over 6 months with no warnings that I need to activate the Vista Operating System.  As for Office not being Activated, when I go to reactivate it (I have deleted the .dat file), I get a message that my Office is activated.  The only problems that I am having is that when I go to validate my version of Office using IE 7.0 under my normal user account I am getting a validation error.  As far as it possibly being a virus or spyware, both Norton Antivirus and Microsoft Defender say my computer is clean.

  • Stemporary,

Have you changed any hardware in your computer? Also have you had to update device drivers? Also have you installed MS Office several times on the same machine or more than one machine.  This could be a reason as why. Please try and reactivate your MS Office.

    Take care....

  • I upgraded one driver (have not changed any hardware) and deleted the dat file so that I had to reactivate Office.  I have not installed it anywhere else.  The main thing that I am baffled by is that if I run IE in Administrative mode it validates my Office, but if I run IE under my normal administrator user account my version of Office shows up as needing to be validated.  I can understand both situations showing up as either invalid or valid, but not one being valid and the other being invalid.  So my question remains, how can this happen?
