Backup Configuration Wizard says it cannot...

Question
-
I am being told:
"This computer is not online or Windows Home Server cannot access the computer's hard drive. Please make sure the computer is powered on and connected to your home network."
This is interesting in that this message is seen on the computer that I want to setup the backup on and it is also the one connected to the WHS console. In other words, WHS BCW cannot see the computer that it is talking to. ???
I've been through every checklist and test list that I can find. Nothing allows me to do this. I've tried to set it up from other computers on the WHS, and even from the WHS console as well.
Any suggestions?

If you changed or repartioned the hard drive WHS may no longer recognise the disk (actually from WHS perspective the disk is missing). WHS should have no problem backing up logical partitions. What you should try is unconfigure backup, then configure backup again for this client. If that fails you may need to remove the client from the WHS console, then reinstall connector software. Please note that all existing client backups will be lost with this procedure.
Running chkdsk doesn't make sense at the moment.

Has the computer been backed up succesfully before? If yes, have you recently replaced a hard disk or made any changes to the partition on this computer? If yes please try and unconfigure backup, then reconfigure backup from the WHS console for this specific client. If this doesn't fix your problem please run chkdsk /r on all partiotions of the client computer, then try again.

Thanks.
I think I'm on the right track with this one.
This is a workstation and not the server.
Both drives onboard are 1 TB.
They both have been backed up before without problem. The drive in question was replaced recently and it was repartitioned - 3 primary and 1 logical partitions.
Can WHS Connector see/backup a logical partition? If not, it may be the cause. It is the only thing different from the earlier setup.
I did remove and then reinstal the connector (twice) but no joy. It must have something to do with that logical partition. What do you think?

Well, just when you think you have it figured out.
1. I deleted the logical partition.
2. Reboot (just to make sure all is cleared out.)
3. Removed connector.
4. Reboot again.
5. Reinstalled connector.
6. Tried to setup backup using WHS console from this computer. No Joy.
7. Tried to setup backup using WHS console from another computer. Same.
I will be running chkdsk /r on all partitions as soon as I reboot.Monday, May 10, 2010 7:28 AM -

Thank you for your advice.
Though it seems extreme, it took the following to return my backup capability:
1. Remove connector software from client.
2. Reboot client.
3. Remove client from WHS server at server console (done from a different client).
4. Reinstall connector software on client. As you stated, I did lose all my backups from this machine as part of this extreme measure.
It should also be noted that even though the connector software was "removed" from the client, once it was reinstalled it was discovered that the removal wasn't entirely done. Some settings were maintained on the client from the prior installation. One in particular, the ability to remember the server password was found to still be in place even after a "removal" was done. Perhaps even more information was maintained, but I did not check. We are as I type this doing an initial backup of the client.
Thank you again.
