trouble with home and student validation and upgrades

Question
-
i have purchased office home and student 2007, removed 2003 and installed 2007. when i go to get updates and validate i'm told that my product key for office 2003 is not valid. i've tried to use the repair office option on my 2007 (i don't have a 2003 disk) disk but still no success. i can not find anything relating to this discussed in these forums so i would love some help. also, when i open an office document it uses 2007 but often locks up, that is what prompted me to seek a solution in the first place. thank-you
very respecctfully

jamieberto,
It sounds like Office 2003 may not be fully removed in which case you can use the Windows Cleanup Installer Utility to
remove any remnants of Office 2003. Revalidate at the Validate Office website.
Windows Cleanup Installer Utility:(used for Office 2003 or older Office version)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Validation for Office website:
http://www.microsoft.com/Genuine/diag/RunDiags.aspx?displayLang=en
Should you need to reinstall Office 2007, refer to this KB article for uninstalling Office 2007,
If, after attempting to resolve the issue as per the instructions on the above site fails, please refer to the link below and run the MGA Diagnostics tool:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012
You will be prompted to either “Run” or “Save” the tool. Choose to “Run” the tool and follow the on-screen prompts. You will receive an “Internet Explorer-Security Warning” dialog box for the “Windows Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool”; you must choose to “Run” this tool when prompted.
Once you are presented with the Diagnostics tool choose “Continue” to run the diagnostic report. If the “RESOLVE” button is available after running the diagnostics, please click “RESOLVE” to allow the diagnostic tool to attempt a repair.
1. After running the MGA Diagnostic tool, click on the “Windows” tab and then click on “Copy”.
2. Please return to this post and “Paste” the results here for additional review.

I hope this helps,
