Update new record values in a database RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have a MS-Access database which stores data from Lotus notes address book. Below is the DB structure.

Twice a week we run a program so that the data can be pulled from Lotus notes database to the Access database.

At present we delete all the rows in the table and update the fields from the data in lotus notes.

    >> Is there a way to skip the delete process and update only the new records from lotus notes database ?

The DB will have around 5 thousand to 6 thousand contacts.

  • Hello.

if you have ID in Lotus Notes - you should be able to say WHERE LotusID > MAX(TableID).

Or youse any other "flag" to determine new records in LN.

    5.000-6.000 - it's - nothing - few milliseconds to import.

    Sincerely, Highly skilled coding monkey.

  • Hi Thanks for the update.

We wont be able to update the records in louts notes not change the structure of it. All we could do is to read the records from lotus notes DB and store in MS-Access DB. Instead of erasing table every time and updating all records I was thinking to read a record from lotus notes compare it with the existing records in MS-access and if any changes in details update it.
