Plug and Play error causing Windows to automatically shutdown RRS feed

  • In lamens terms, can anyone shed any light on the below message that randomly appears and shuts my system down on its own......

    'Windows must now close due to unexpected Plug and Play error'

    This forum is for Windows Home Server.  Is the problem you're experiencing on that OS?  If not, you should post your question in the relevent OS forum (7, Vista, or XP).

  • What hardware have you got in your PC.  Have you checked in Device manager that all drivers are installed for your hardware.  You might find it useful to remove hardware one at a time until the problem does not occur.  It might be a good idea to run a memory check using memtest86.  It may be possible that your components in the PC are not properly seated.
