Have to login repeatedly RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have already brought this up once, but the problem is getting worse.  (To post this thread I have had to create a new login, just so I could report a login bug!!!)

Every time I access Live Mesh, it defaults to an unused Hotmail LiveID.  To login to my main LiveID (which doesn't have a hotmail address), I have to perform the following steps:

    1)  Click "sign out"
    2)  Put my e-mail address and password in
    3)  Receive an "incorrect e-mail/password" message
    4)  Put the e-mail and password in again
    5)  Receive a "you are already logged in on this account" (naming my HOTMAIL details - note that this LiveIDs are NOT linked and I have repeatedly clicked "forget me" for the hotmail account, so clearly "forget me" is broken)
    6)  Click "sign out and log in on a different account"
    7)  Put my details in for a THIRD time
    8)  Get access to my Mesh

I now have to do this every day, at every boot.  Can someone please help?

(PS  I do have an existing ID on this forum, but when I put my screen name in, it says "another user has this identity".  I know they do.  It's me.  But the moment I come into contact with anything "Live", it may default back to the Hotmail LiveID, so I never know, after clicking a link, who I actually am.  Today, I can't log in here at all.  Crazy.)

(PPS  If you're wondering why I don't delete the hotmail account, sometimes one can't sign up for things, like Live Mesh, if one doesn't have a hotmail address.)

  • Hi,

If you're still having this issue, one of our devs would like to take a look at your Live Mesh logs.  If you wouldn't mind, please submit a bug with your logs attached.  If you could then post your Connect Feedback ID here I will follow up with you when we learn something.

    Thanks,

    Ben.

  • Hi,

Is it possible this is an issue with your Internet Explorer cookies?  You might try deleting them and seeing if that helps.  Also, if you are running MSN Messenger, it’s possible that is getting in the way here too, since it installs a shared Live ID manager component.

Please let me know if the problem persists (and you may want to consider filing a bug - instructions are in an Announcement at the top of the forums).

    Thanks,

    Ben.
