Authenticity issue and environment issues RRS feed

  • This is a refurbished PC and I hadn't done any updates or installs between before and after this issue started. I would run the MGADiag but I can't even save the result because I need to run it as admin but when I attempt to run it as admin "The system could not find the environment option this was entered

  • The problem is a missing %windir% variable. 

    1.  Boot into safe mode.

    2.  Right click on Computer

    3.  Choose "Properties"

    4.  Click on "Advanced System Settings"

    5.  In "Startup and Recovery"  Click on "Environment variables"

    6.  Under "System variables" Click on "New"

    7.  "Variable Name"  Type in windir

    8.   "Variable value"  type in C:\Windows

    9.  Click successive OK's all windows are closed.

    10.. Reboot

    Received error at step 4 saying that it could not find "%windir%\sytempropertiesadv.exe"....I shut down and opened up safe mode opened start right click computer open properties then click on the Advance System settings option and then I received the error message.
