Win 7 System Requirements Conflicting Info

Question
-
I have taken the 70-680 twice and failed. I know the Microsoft press book is incomplete in terms of studying but I am really struggling to understand a particular point in the book were it references the hard drive size and space requirements. The book states that I need a 16gb hd with 15gb of free space for starter and home basic, and a 40gb disk with 15 gb of free space for all of the other versions. If I go to the microsoft website at: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/system-requirements it states that the requirement is simply 16gb. If I do a search on the technet library it says the exact same thing. I am unsure if I should go with what the book says or if I should go with the technet and windows 7 product site. Also several other books say 16gb is the free space requirement.
The problem is if I get a question about system requirements where it is a 30gb hard drive with 18gb of free space OR if I get a question where it states I have 15gb of free space. According to one Microsoft source 15gb is not enough, according to another it is. Does anyone have any thoughts?
