Our date times are and as far as I know, have always been UTC, so maybe that is the root of the confusion?

You know that is exactly it then. I look at the timestamps and when they transition from xx hours and yy minutes ago to actual timestamps and just missed the connection completely. Thanks guys for thinking about this.
