Need to format off a pirate copy of XP RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought a computer on craigslist and need to format off the pirate copy that is on the PC. I receive a validation message and can't get paste that. I just want to do a clean format for a clean install.

  • Hello golfforfood,

Since these are Dells, my original advice stands:  "If this is a name brand computer, go to the manufacturer's support pages for this model to see what the recovery procedure is."

If this is a name brand computer, go to the manufacturer's support pages for this model to see what the recovery procedure is.

If not a name brand, ask in the appropriate forum here:  http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx

    Good Luck! :-)

  • Depending on the year of the PC most Dell computers have a recovery partition which includes the OEM software which will save you the trouble of having to try an obtain the physical media from Dell. Go to Dell's support site for more information on how to access the recovery partition on your PC.
