Invalid License RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have this info.  The COA is almost all worn out on the bottom side of the HP laptop.  That's why I can not give them the number when I talked to the indian technical deskhelp of Microsoft.  The sticker of HP is well recognized and I was told that I have to pay for a $99.00 program for them to reactivate do it.

Other people suggested to me that I can restore the system using the files of D: drive.  But I have to back all stuff up on C drive.

  • Hello

It appears that Vista's Licensing Store may be damaged or it's data may be messed up in some way.  Please try the below steps to recreate the Store and it's data.

    1) Open an Internet Browser window.
    2) Type: %windir%\system32 into the browser address bar.
    3) Find the file CMD.exe
    4) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select 'Run as Administrator'
    5) Type: net stop slsvc   (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
    6) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
    7) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    8) Type: cd %windir%\system32
    9) Type: net start slsvc
    10) Type: cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc (It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)
    11) Restart your computer twice.
    12) You may be required to enter the Product Key and/or Activate. Be sure to use the Product key listed on the sticker on the side, bottom or (for some laptops) in the batter compartment of the PC. Also activate using the By Phone method.

    Thank you,

    Darin MS
