Help me confirm that I've been sold illegal copy of Win7 Pro - Blocked Product Key RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!

As the Title says, I need confirmation that I've been sold an illegal copy of Windows 7 Professional. The seller was online business in EU area with tens if not hundreds of sold copies of Windows 7 products, and the product came with a license key and "original retail box", and with DVD's looking legitimate but...

The first sign of problem was when online activation of Win was failed with a "Product Key Blocked" message. Phone activation failed as well, telling that the activation has failed and I may be a victim of software piracy.

After that I did some research, and it seems that I've been sold a copy with MSDN-key. The product ID seems to be one of the dreaded -222- ID's, which might indicate that this is not for resale MSDN account.

Further investigation of the DVD's revealed, that they are missing few security features: The DVD Outer Mirror Band (OMB) ring does not contain "Microsoft" & "Genuine" holograms as stated in Microsoft site. Also, the Inner Mirror Band (IMB) looks a lot like a sticker and does not include all the security details described inhttp://www.microsoft.com/en-us/howtotell/Software.aspx#Packaging

Also, the Product Key Label has a text "Proof of license. See license terms Lable not to be sold separately.", and I believe that MS QC would have not let a label pass with a missing dot (after "See license terms") and misspelled Label (Lable).

So I rest my case, what's the verdict?

Oh, and in case this is not enough information, here's a copy MGADiag-tool results:
