Project Server 2007 SP2 April 2011 CU/ Memory leak in Microsoft Office Project Server Queue Service? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear Forum,

recently we discovered that the Queue Service was hung up and before had used nearly all available RAM on the application server and several GB of pagefile.sys. After restarting the service it worked as normal. It seems like the memory usage had grown step by step because on thursday and friday we noticed unusually many jobs in the queue and on monday morning the pwa was not available due to a memory access violation of the queue service.

Besides our system (>1000 users + timesheets) works fine and doesn't show any problems.

Do you know what could be the cause of that excessive memory usage? Do you need further information?

Thank you for you input and best regards

It would have been interesting if you gathered the ULS logs from the time period when the issue occurred. If you have these, I strongly suggest opening a case with Microsoft support. This could be a one-time confluence of forces or it could be something systemic about your particular physical or logical configuration or could be a usage-driven issue. Unless this sparks an "I've see that exact same thing before" in somebody's mind, you'll need to provide more to go on for the forum as well.
