  • Good Day

I would like to know. I want to start a career in IT, and would like to know

which exams are the best to take, and which exams do most IT companies/employers

prefer? Microsoft Certification (MCP, MCSA, etc) vs Comp TIA courses?

Which is the better? And I'm talking in the general sense now...

  • If you've got limited/no background in IT, I'd suggest starting with a couple of CompTIA courses - A+, Network+, maybe Server+.  These are vendor-neutral certifications.

As to the Microsoft courses, skip the MCSA (as that covers Server 2003 - technology that's 8 years old).  Focus on current technology such as Windows 7 and Server 2008.  FYI, once you pass one Microsoft certification exam, you earn the right to call yourself a MCP.
