  • Firkinfedup is right.   My circumstances sound simular to other people that are having issues.

    1) Working from a NAS.  Copying from NAS <-> Local Raid 5.
    2) A LOT of files.  Total 1.8 TB.

In a sample copy, one of my folders was about 56GB with just over 84,131  files.   SyncToy took just under 3.5 hrs, ViceVersa took 42 minutes.  Somethings obviously seriously wrong.

  • Hi -

I am hoping you are using SyncToy 2.0? And SyncToy will take a lot more time the first time you sync two folders while we build up our internal database to track the different files. Can you sync a second time and see how long that takes you?

  • Yep v2.  Unfortunately I can't provide any further information as I was trying to copy various shared from 1 raid to another.  I'm not really sync'ing them after they're copied.  I wanted to use sync rather than copy so I can see a log of errors etc.  ViceVersa also creates a database for sync, but for whatever reason - it's able to accomplish this in a fraction of the time of SyncToy.
