Shared Folder Permissions RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm new to WHS, and I have but one big complaint. I cannot modify folders that are stored within shared folder. When I attempt to change the name of a folder, even an empty one, it informs me that the root folder does not exist, and asks if I would like to create it. Any idea how to correct this problem? (I can edit files, crop photos, edit word documents, etc.)

  • Hello,
this is not normal, so let me ask some questions?
    1. How exactly do you try to modify folders?
    2. Which application do you use?
    3. Which client operating system?
    4. Do you use network access to Shared folders or did you try to change something locally on the WHS disks via local session or remote desktop connection?
    5. Can you post the complete error message or supply a screenshot?
    6. Do you experience any network errors accessing your WHS? (but this would not explain, why you can still access files)
    7. Do you have more client PCs and have all the same problem?
    Best greetings from Germany
    Olaf
