System Centre Licensing Query

Question
-
I am trying to get my head around the licensing requirements of System Centre 2012.
My scenario is going to be:
- 1 Server to act as a Central hub (System Centre 2012 Installed and running VMM, End Point, Client Configuration, etc.)
- 7 Servers running Hyper-V
I want to cluster the Hyper-V environment to allow easier management and failover. What licenses of System Centre 2012 do I need to purchase for this. I am looking at upto 25 VMs spread across the 7 servers.

To be honest, the only valid source for licensing questions is Microsoft - no forum answer can be guaranteed correct - I'd call Microsoft, or check out the Product Sales and Licensing Solution Center.

Hello,
Systen Center 2012/2012 R2 SML is licensed per physical CPU s on the Server(each SML License covers up to two CPUs).
for your Scenario, if you mean that you have 7 physical Servers and each Server with 4 VMs (total: 28 VMs) than you Need 14 System Center 2012 Standard Edition while each license covers 2 VMs. if you want to have more VMs for each Server than you purchase 7 x System Center Datacenter Suite for unlimited VMs for each Server.
thanks
