Upgrade to W7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there - Long story.  Had vista home basic on notebook when I purchased it.  Got a bug and whole thing was corrupted so I tried to reinstall from my installation cd only to find that it was also corrupted. (Purchased the notebook a Packard Bell in South Africa a year before returning here to Ireland). I then downloaded W7RC which has been a real pleasure to use.  I am now up the proverbial creek as because the Vista ____ was so corrupted I removed it completely from my notebook as I did not want it corrupting anything else.  So now I sit here wondering what I can do as I cannot afford to pay out £129 for a W7 cd and with no other operating system on my notebook cannot do an upgrade (pensioners rates not available on Windows).
I have still got the label of the Vista on the laptop and details are as follow.
    VISTA HOME BASIC 00146-329-749-575
    PRODUCT KEY ***** ***** ***** ***** XKKTQ
There is also  X13-04656 on label at bottom

Please can anyone tell me where I can go from here?
    Regards Edith
p.s Apologise if I have posted to wrong thread but cannot find one for Vista.
