Would somebody at Microsoft, who may be monitoring these forums, indicate whether or not this is a registered bug in CRM, or if maybe I haven't RTFM in the right place to understand how this function is supposed to operate?
As near as I can tell, the behavior in CRM 3 is thus:
1.) You can't change the "Contract Service Level" attribute directly through customization of the Contract Template entity.
2.) You CAN change the "Contract Service Level" attribute of the Contract Template, through customization of the same attribute in the Contract entity.
So, what broke? Who in QA dropped the ball? And, WHEN can we get a fix?
