  • Ok now, to get the internet explorer back up is simple
You can download Internet Explorer 7 from here, microsoft.com
    Just navigate to microsft.downloads.com

    OR

Enable automatic updates and microsoft will update it for you
    Start>control panel>automatic updates> Enable

If you deleted your drivers for your sound, find what model/make of your computer
    go to their online site
    go to downloads
download the specified driver for your model and make

If you deleted the Master Sound program
chances are you didnt delete it
    Go to
Start>controlpanel>Audio and sound devices>Click place volume icon on taskbar

    OR

    start>search>sndvol32
    Copy the application
    go to
    C:\WINDOWS\system32
    paste it there

    hope i could help

  • Since the audio and video drivers are spacific to the motherboards... how do I find out who the manufacture is? I am so not a computer person when it becomes this tech. I went into my computer and right clicked and it said my comp was an intel with a pent 4 processor... I went to Intel and was unable to find anything other than a statememt saying that audio and video drivers were spacific to the motherboards and that I needed to go to the mother board manufactures site...

I have my volum control... I simple don't have anything to control. the options are all grayed out...

  • If you have any suggestions as to getting the sound back, please send an email to steve.valley@gmail.com

I did the same thing as you did and got the same result.  The speaker icon is gone and I cant play any sounds.  This process should be much easier to get the sound back.. this would be a common mistake hey?

  • Go to Start>Control Panel>System>Hardware tab> Device Manager. Double click each hardware device with a question mark next to it and reload the device driver for it. THis should do it for you, itworked for me.

  • You gave some really great advice but there is a easier way! I hope others can use the information below:

Control panal>admin tools> services>(double click)>you can double click on "volume shadow copy properties" check automatic> "service status" click>start> click "apply" THEN do the same to "windows audio"> You WILL have sound! If you go to "help and support" and enable that you will be able to get into that too! It's all there. You will also be able to start your "printer spooler" from there.

I was having issues with all of it!! I went through enabled what I wanted! Make sure you write it down for the future! It works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Same issue, and i am very good with the technical issues with computers. I have tried reinstalling windows XP several times, because i have no sound card, and i dont want to buy things i dont need, so i tried downloading sound drivers, no luck, it is some stupid eroor with XP that, so far, i beleive Microsoft hasnt halped anybody with it yet. Hopefully the suggestion above will work, but doubt it

I had the same problem after a reformat and SP3 install. If I'm correct; you should click > Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager < then Scroll down to Audio / Sound Devices ( I Think ),  look for the YELLOW Question Marks and update drivers. It's been a while since I've had to do this, but I think I used the hardware wizard to fix this. I hope this helps! Let me know

If it's not a problem vfrlover; would you mind letting us know what worked for you! I'm asking because all puters are different and what worked for one, may or may not work for another. Thanks
