Control a c# application from wifi? RRS feed

  • Hello,

    Normally i use "WPF" to make user interface for CNC machines ,  but now my customer is asking if its possible to control the machine via WiFi i the building, maybe through the web browser type in a IP address or an app, response time have to be under 100ms.

    what is the eases thing to do ?

  • Yes, your idea of typing the IP address in a browser has merit. Just have a program listening at that IP address. You could create a web application and install it in IIS. Or, if you are not allowed to install IIS, you can add to your WPF application a thread that uses OWIN to provide a listener and respond to the web requests from there. Your target of 100 ms response time is well within the capabilities of WiFi, as long as the network is not already saturated by other traffic. Just be careful when writing your server code so that it's quick enough to respond within the allocated time.
