Error creating to Word RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I try to create a Word document out of LCDS, I get two script errors:

    1.  The path is not a legal form; and

    2.  Object does not support this form or method.

I get no output whether I continue running scripts or not.  Any ideas?

  • This had me stumped for a little while. The problem is that you need to create the Word files within the existing LCDS Directory structure. i.e. you can't create the Word files on in your My Documents or any other location.

You courses are stored in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft Learning\LCDS\courses\YOUR_COURSE_NAME_HERE in Windows 7 (I don't know about XP / Vista!).

Therefore I'd create these directories for your word files:

Select a folder to Print into:
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft Learning\LCDS\courses\YOUR_COURSE_NAME_HERE\Word

Select a folder for static images for Active Content:
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft Learning\LCDS\courses\YOUR_COURSE_NAME_HERE\images

I'm not sure why the content is created in the ProgramData folder (it would be better off in the My Documents or Document Library), but I image it's something to do with permissions!

  • Thanks Loz,

That did the trick.  Writing document/data files into a default hidden directory is unusual.
