Product in Parent Price List: inactive products are shown as well RRS feed

  • Question

  • When adding a Quote Product to a Quote, you can select a pricelistitem associated to the selected pricelist on Quote. The problem is that this list also shows products that are set to inactive. The status of pricelistitems cannot be changed and remain active. Since order product data is synchronized from an ERP system to CRM, the Order Products (= pricelistitems) must remain in the system.

How can I avoid adding a pricelistitem to a new Quote if the product is set to inactive? It must be a supported solution!

  • Hi,

Because the price list items could not be deactivated, you should create an optionset field for that. Then, at the system views of the price list add or modify a view to filter the pricelist items based on the new field. You could remove other views of price list item, which prevents from selection of the unwanted items.

  • Hi,

It is out of box feature of CRM that once you deactivate any product, it will not appear in any of the new Opportunity Product/Quote Product/Order Product/Invoice Product.
But it will keep appearing in the old Opportunity Product/Quote Product/Order Product/Invoice Product (regardless of the status of Opportunity/Quote/Order/Invoice).
There is no status field in pricelistitem, its basically cascaded from product status.

I would suggest for the existing draft/active quote you can delete the Quote Product and re create them while creating the new Quote Product inactive product will not appear in the product lookup.

  • In researching I came across this post.

For some strange reason, you cannot modify the price list item views.  The 'save' buttons are not there, you cannot add filters or new columns.  (try it!)

If anyone has a verified solution to this issue, I would be very interested.
