GeoTank,
Sorry about the link being offline, but I did a search and the same exact link has been posted many times and as far back as May 2007 it was working.
The last time I read the linked document the cost of the CD was $30 incl shipping. If you know someone with a systembuilder license kit for the edition of XP you have, you could ask them to burn you a copy of the CD.

Also, I bought my original pc from an online store which sold me my xp. I have since then rebuilt my pc so therefore i don't have a manufacturer to get a reinstall disk from.... i'm solo.

GeoTank,
Fill out this form and send the money for a CD: http://download.microsoft.com/download/b/a/b/babc90a1-b794-4a94-84f5-cbc37827ddca/americas%20end%20user%20media%20replacement%20form.pdf
Microsoft allows systembuilders to order the same replacement CD for free thru the systembuilder/OEM secured website, so before you send in the money, maybe drop in to a local systembuilder to see if they would be interested in helping you out.
