windows 7 build 7600 not genuine error 0x80072efd RRS feed

  • Hi,

    My windows 7 is suddenly not genuine. I build my computer year ago and bought W7 OEM and run it without any problems for a year. About month ago I had to reinstall the system. activation was succesfull that time but today I got the message that the copy is not genuine. When trying to rectivate it I get the error message 0x80072EFD and System restore didn't fix the problem.

    Thanks for replay, but didn't work. It reports failed WindowsActivationUpdate with error again 0x80072EFD. and Windows Restore is failing to restore.

    Your report is showing that the installation has not been activated.
    You need to activate by phone -
    click on the Start button
    in the Search box, type
    SLUI   4
    and hit the Enter key
    follow the instructions.
    When the automated phone system offers you various services, do NOT respond. This should force an operator to pick up who can deal with your activation.

    I suspect that your problem is that you've failed a validation check somewhere along the way.
    I'd recommend installing the WAT update (KB971033) from Windows Updates, and then attempting manual Validation by going to www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate.
    If it fails, follow the Diagnostics link which you should be offered, and see if that helps.
    When complete, run another MGADiag report, and post the result.
