Downloaded Office from site but still getting error about Non-Genuine? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I downloaded Office 2007 from the site after removing all old versions of Office 2007 that were giving me Non-Genuine errors.  I'm still getting those errors even though it shows 100% legit.  How do I remove these messages?

  • Hello PAR3,

Here is a snippet of your mgadiag report:

Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 - 100 Genuine
    OGA Version: Registered, 2.0.48.0

This is exactly what we should be seeing from a Genuine retail licensed installation of Office Small Biz 2007 on your Dell Latitude D620 computer.

It's very likely that remnants of the nongenuine installation of Office previously on your computer are indirectly causing the continued notices of nongenuine Office.

Let's approach this in two steps.  Try the first step and if that does not correct the issue, go on to the next step.

First, restart the computer and visit www.microsoft.com/genuine and click on Validate Office.  Once that completes, restart the computer and use Office normally for a couple of days.  If you don't see any nongenuine notices for a week, we can call it "fixed."

If you continue to see nongenuine notices after trying the above, please go to this MS KB article:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919895  Work thru the Methods in the article.  Most of the time, the MS FixIt in Method 3 is what finally fixes the "stubborn cases." :-)  If you do get to the point where you run the FixIt, after running it, if prompted re-activate your installation of Office Small Biz 2007, then restart the computer and visit www.microsoft.com/genuine and click on Validate Office.  Once that completes, restart the computer and use Office normally for a couple of days.  If you don't see any nongenuine notices for a week, we can call it "fixed."

If, after both of the above, you continue to see nongenuine notices, please post back and we will link you to a site to submit a no-cost email tech support request to deal with the issue.
