Cannot copy ... path too deep

  I am trying to move files from an old server to a new installation via these instructions:

  I am having problems moving large files, the move is aborted with a message "Cannot copy <filename> path too deep".  I have seen other reports suggesting this is an ongoing problem.  Is there no solution yet?  How do I move these files and since this keeps aborting the transfer of so many file, how am I to make the transfer?
