Internet Explorer (IE) crashes RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear MS

Internet Explorer (IE) crashes every time I try to close an IE window or tab.  Task Manager reports the window is "Not Responding."  The only way to use IE after that is to go to Task Manager, Applications tab, and End Task on one of the IE tasks.  This will shut them all down.

I recently rebuilt my computer because the motherboard failed.  ASUS sent me an upgrade to a newer one.  I also installed two SATA HDDs in a RAID-1 (mirroring) array and installed XP Home Edition fresh on this new array.  After installing the drivers and setting up Internet access, I downloaded all XP updates, including SP3.

Additionally, some XP functions seem to run slowly and unstabely.  The prime example is moving or starting functions in <Start><All Programs>.

I have heard since, that SP3 does not run well.  Several guys at work say they won't load it, other have but have problems.

    My config:

    ASUS P5N32-E SLI Plus

    P4 630 (3.0GHz)

    eVGA 6600 PCI-e x16

    2 Seagate 320GB SATA-II in RAID-1

    XP Home, SP3

    Norton 360

    SpyBot

    Yahoo Toolbar with Anti-Spy
