Setting up my personal backup options

When i am given the options of what categories to back up after it scans my computer for filetypes to backup, i clicked on the title for "Outlook and Windows Mail" files which causes "Windows Live OneCare has encountered an error and will still close"

I took a bit of a hiatus from beta testing this product, but i'm back on board after some dissatisfaction with the product, and i now i'm starting to remember why i took a break.

  • Obviously, that shouldn't happen, so I think a bug is in order and a support contact if you wish.

http://help.live.com/help.aspx?project=onecarev2 -use the "Get More Help" link in the lower right of the page to contact support via email.

Please file a bug on Connect:  https://connect.microsoft.com/site/sitehome.aspx?SiteID=168

See the Bug Submission Guide - http://connect.microsoft.com/content/content.aspx?ContentID=3480&SiteID=168 - for details on how to create and submit the Support Log zip file with your bug.

  • Thanks for filing the bug - do contact support, too, if you want to pursue the problem.

I think my bigger problem was not using the latest version of onecare beta.  My version never prompted me to update, and after I finally got the latest version it's working fine now.

Did you end up reinstalling to get the latest build? I guess I'm concerned about why you weren't offered the update automatically.

I followed the steps in another forum to clear some local information on my computer and it updated to a more recent version, but still wouldn't get the latest version.  Finally I uninstalled the old version completely, restarted, and spent about 2 hours reinstalling to get the latest version (It had trouble downloading the files needed).

I'm up and running now, I'll see what happens if I get the next update automatically.
