Windows Home Server backup service failed to start

Question
-
Hi,
I ran into a problem today. After 6 months of problem free operation one of my computers reported no backups in the last 7 days. When I logged into my windows home server I saw an error message indicating the "windows home server backup service failed to start". I went into services and tries to start it and it would start and immediately close. Reboots do not help. Suggestions needed, Please.Sunday, September 21, 2008 12:33 PM

Also, have you reviewed this KB?
Note: As mentioned in method 5, reseting the backup database will cause you to lose all your backups.
Thank you

Have you tried running chkdsk /r on each drive in that client PC that doesn't backup?Sunday, September 21, 2008 12:57 PMModerator -
