I had to format my computer and reinstall xp home edition but now the activation screen is completely a solid blue and I can't enter any information in it. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have called Microsoft and did everything that I was told to do, but I still have a solid blue screen when I try to activate. I installed service pack 3 and that didn't help. Now that I have installed sp3 my computer will not let me run the my xp disk again. How can I activate my xp hpme edition without having to format and reinstall everything again?

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
