CRM 2011 installation error - Setup was unable to retrieve settings from the IIS metabase RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Has anyone been able to solve this issue? I am running the install as Administrator and all the pre-reqs are met.

IIS Management Compatibility is also installed, as suggested elsewhere.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

    try:

    • open commandline
    • navigate to "c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727
    • aspnet_regiis -i -enable

    Hope it helps.

  • Hi mk,

Just to confirm, this command reinstalls .NET v2

I am just wary because the server has other sites live and I do not want to disrupt that.

    Cheers

  • Unfortunately this didn't work.

Still getting the same error regarding not being able to retrieve settings from the IIS metabase.

  • Hi Green1867,

    Which OS you using?

    I would try re-installing IIS.

  • Hi nrodri,

    Thanks for the response.

We are using Windows Server 2008 R2 (IIS7). We are running an intranet fine through IIS at the moment, and I previously tried an IIS re-install with no success.

  • Can you confirm you installed the IIS 6 components?

Have a look at this article and see if this fixes the issue:

  • Hi nrodri,

    Yes II6 components are installed.

Tried the above fix but this also didn't resolve the issue.

Do you have any other suggestions?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Remove the Web server role from server and install CRM2011 without installing Web Server role.

In CRM2011 setup will automatically install the IIS. Did you try this?

  • According to me IIS 7.0 is required for crm 2011.

  • Hi Khaja,

I am reluctant to do this because we already have an intranet running on the server through IIS 7, which works fine.

    Kind regards

  • Have you tried IISReset?

CRM installation should not have any problem listing the properties of IIS.
