OCS Snap-in cannot read info from Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). Restart WMI, and then try again. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Our Mediation Server show up connected to the frontend server and "under" the "user" folder of our Front End Server.  When you click on the mediation server the following message pops up:

Office Communications Server Snap-in cannot read information from Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). Restart WMI, and then try again.

When I run validation on the Front End Server the following errors occur which seem to be related to the error message above:

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      Error:
No WMI instance returned by query select * from MSFT_SIPLogOptions

       Failure
[0xC3FC200D] One or more errors were detected

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    WMI Repository Path: \\mediationserver.domain.com\root\cimv2

Error: Error reading the MSFT_SIPLogOptions class attributes

       Failure
[0xC3FC200D] One or more errors were detected
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Validation otherwise reports nothing else unusual.

What do I do to get this WMI issue to go away on the mediaion server?

  • We redeployed and this went away.  Not a nice answer if that is a problem for your paritcular situation.  For us it was not a big deal.
