  •  Windows that have been installed using a KMS Product key must activate by connecting to a KMS Server within the same network.

KMS is a Volume License. Large organizations would buy a Volume License agreement for xx amount of licenses to install a Microsoft Windows (Vista or Windows 7).  They would then install a KMS Server within thier network and fill it with the KMS licenses (known as Seats). They would then install the Windows using a KMS Client Product Key on all thier PCs and configure them to activate thru the KMS server. When a KMS Client connects to the KMS Server to Activate, one of the Licenses (or Seats) is used.

If you are a normal comsumer and you were sold a KMS version of Windows, you should return the software for a Full Refund.  Do not accept a new key or anything like that.  Get your Money Back.

Please download the MGADiag tool from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012
Run the download - then click on Continue to generate the report. Click on the Copy button when it's available, and then paste the results into your reply.
If you recently (last 6 months) purchased your machine second-hand, then the vendor did not do their job properly - KMS licensed machines are supposed to be restored to factory conditions before being sold.
