Windows Genuine Advantage validation failure RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    I own two systems, originally identical. Each has had a data drive (not the boot drive) addition or replacement so they are no longer 'exactly' the same.

    They are both now experiencing Windows Genuine Advantage software validation failures.

    I have the original installation CDs, with CoAs, for both of them. The only *solution* Microsoft seems to be offering me is to purchase Windows again and I donot feel I should have to do that.

    I have contacted tech. support at the vendor (Polywell Computers) numerous times, to no avail; they have finally sent me here. I am at my wit's end with this, can someone help?

  • From your MGA report:

    WGA Data-->
    Validation Status: Blocked PID
    Validation Code: 11

    Apparently, the product key used to install your OEM copy of Windows XP Professional came from Toshiba Corporation.  Since you do not have a Toshiba computer, the product key has been blocked from use.

    See: Marker string from BIOS: 1C021:GENUINE C&C INC|198B8:Semp Toshiba Informatica Ltda|198B8:TOSHIBA CORPORATION

    Contact the entity that sold you the software and demand a "genuine" Windows XP Professional OEM product key (you can send them a copy of your MGA report as proof).  Otherwise visit Microsoft Genuine Advantage and click on Validate Windows.  When validation fails, click on the Get Genuine Button to learn how to acquire a WGA Kit.
