Hi, we are rolling out CRM2015/ update 1, and have the current business situation:
A) Accounts are generally created in a POS for repeat customer. These are mapped to CRM and opportunities (invoices) are mapped to the accounts). One of the accounts is "consumer sales", which has thousands of customers. These
individuals are currently imported as information only on the opportunity record
B) in one of our point of sale platforms (we have different businesses), customers are tracked by firstname/lastname and given an account number within the system. Business names are tracked under last name. We imported the
businesses as accounts and created one account for the consumer sales (to mirror or other operations).
C) To track the individual customers under consumer (thousands), we are considering using contacts with a relationship type of "consumer". Due to the nature of names, there will be quite a few duplicates, so we want to
give each contact an account number to use for mapping.
Two questions: 1) it doesn't appear that import allows a contact to be mapped to an account number parent, only a name; conversely, it doesn't appear that there is a field in contact for an account number that can be used to connect
the opportunities to the specific customer under the account. What is the best way to make this work? 2) is there a better way to do this?
