  • Question

  • I installed windows live onecare on mycomputer and it got to the step where it said i needed to call a number to finish the activation process......i bought the package at circuit city......my page expired before i had time to call the number that it had displayed to finish the activation.....so now i guess i just need that number unless you can activate it right now....cuz it keeps telling me that my subscription is already in use but i only have 87 days left.....which it should be a year cuz i just entered it today.

  • Activation does not require or expect a call.

Please try activation once again and sign in with the same LiveID you originally used. If you created the subscription originally, it should see it and activate. If it doesn't see a subscription, it will require the entry of the retail key or the payment information to complete activation. Once that is completed, the credentials are supposed to come down to your local copy.

See this post for the KB article to troubleshoot install problems - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1588602&SiteID=2

If you continue to have problem with Activation, please contact support.

  • If you are getting a 3010 error when trying to activate, that means you are trying to subscribe with a LiveID that already has a subscription. However, it should see your subscription during the first step and activate with needing you to provide a key or payment.

So, if you have previously activated OneCare with that retail key, signing in with the same LiveID should complete the activation process. Make sure that the password for your LiveID is less than 8 characters long and that you not copying and pasting it in the activation dialog to log in.

I can't post the support number, so follow the FAQ steps to reach support if you need to follow up with them for help.
